3CX V20 Update 5 Final is here! With Google Workspace integration, enhanced Teams status control and voice mail transcription, this update takes communication and management to the next level. New multi-tenant capabilities, improved call routing scripts and expanded DECT and IP phone support are also included in this update. There’s worldwide auto-setup with leading VoIP provider Twilio as well as a number of key improvements to offer System Admins the 3CX hallmark of greater flexibility and simplicity. Read on for more.
Google Workspace: Reducing Admin, Syncing User Contacts & Status
3CX can now be integrated with Google to provide a wide range of cool functionality.
- Start syncing user accounts from Google Workspace.
- One-way syncing of personal contacts with the 3CX personal phonebook.
- See 3CX profile status change – when in a meeting it’s set to busy – based on Google Calendar events.
- Create and use Google Buckets for remote storage of 3CX phone system data.
- For transcription of recordings and voicemails use Google Speech.
- To send emails use Google Workspace accounts.
- Enabling Google SSO will allow users to sign in to their Web Client using Google credentials.
- Enabling Google ReCaptcha will help protect from automated attacks and abuse.

Select & Control Presence Across Microsoft Teams & 3CX
As announced in V20 Update 5 Alpha, the current M365 interface has been extended offering the option to select and control presence across Teams and 3CX. This means you can set up how statuses are shared and mapped across both platforms. Learn more about managing status sync between Teams & 3CX in our guide.
Transcription for Voicemail & Recordings
Voice mail transcription is possible with a PRO license. If you have an 8SC and above it’s free using 3CX. If you have a 4 SC license you need to configure openAI or Google. Affordable call transcription with 3CX AI remains in BETA and continues to be available for testing at no additional cost. Pricing is still under consideration. Watch this space for more information.
For Voicemail Transcription:
- A Professional (PRO) 3CX license is required
- If your 3CX license is 8SC or higher, voicemail transcription using 3CX AI is free for the time being
- If you have a 4SC license, you must configure transcription using OpenAI or Google
For Call Transcription:
- An Enterprise (ENT) 3CX license is required
Advanced Call Routing Scripts
We continue to expand the number of advanced call routing scripts available to System Admins. Offering greater flexibility – as well as simplifying how calls are managed once configured – there’s no additional Admin effort required. You can update routing rules easily without needing to import changes, subject to your settings.
The latest additions include inbound Caller ID routing to match incoming caller IDs with predefined rules to route them to the destination you specify and inbound DID routing to match incoming calls to DIDs to route them to the specified destination.
New Multi-Tenant Features
3CX Multi-Tenant capability provides for setting up a multi-company environment whereby multiple independent entities can share a single 3CX instance within the 3CX Phone System – all whilst maintaining separation and privacy from each other. For administrators managing multi-tenant setups – and looking for greater flexibility and control – Update 5 introduces new features including trunk creation for department owners, transcription control per tenant, holiday prompts, and configurable paging and multicast.

Twilio SIP Trunk Auto Setup
3CX is pleased to announce the option to auto setup a SIP Trunk with Twilio using the “Elastic SIP Trunking” product. Additional Improvements
- Temporary remote Web Admin access links when Partner / 3CX troubleshooting is required.
- Customize avatar shapes in the Web Client for all users.
- Queues and Ring Groups can have customised voicemail greeting messages.
- Automatically assign extensions when importing DIDs by including the inbound route.
- Customize the length of how caller IDs are matched to existing conversations for SMS/CID.
- Fewer requests and less risk of blacklisting / lookup failures by improving CRM authorization process.
- Easily export/import Caller ID configurations in CID rules via “Advanced” > “CID Rules.”
- Immediate recording archiving after a call ends for simpler storage and retrieval.
- Mini-bar for hotels now have added support for mini-bar codes.
- Configure frequency of updates to company phonebook by IP phones and DECT devices.
- Easily provision FXS and DECT devices without manual configuration.
- Improved detection and notification system for SBC alerts.
