Keep your 3CX system online. Update before certificate expiry.
3CX will be replacing SSL certificates required for PBX activation and secure connections on February 24, 2025. If you are running an older version of 3CX, your system will no longer be able to activate or validate its license and will not work after this date. Read on for more details about what to do next.
To avoid disruptions, you must update to a supported version by February 23.
Who Needs to Update?
If your system is running V18 Update 9A or earlier or V20 Update 2 or earlier, you must update.
If you are already on V18 Update 9B (January 2025) or V20 Update 3 (October 2024) or later, no action is required at this point, your system will remain fully functional.
What Happens If You Don’t Update?
- PBX activation will fail – Your system will not be able to verify its license.
- License validation will be blocked – You won’t be able to refresh your license key.
- Your 3CX system will stop working unless updated before 23 February 2025.
How to Update
Updating is quick and easy:
- Log in to your Management Console.
- Navigate to Updates.
- Select and install the latest version.
We strongly recommend updating as soon as possible to avoid last-minute issues.
Version 18: Extended License Activation Until September 2025
For those still on Version 18, an update – V18 Update 9B – is available to extend license activation until September 2025. While this allows temporary functionality, we recommend planning your move to Version 20 for full support and the latest features.
